Getting the Right Address for Yourself on the Internet:

Choosing the right domain can be tricky. A lot of people think getting a domain name is as easy as naming a baby. (As if that’s easy!)

There are two ways to go about this:

1. Get a domain that reads your-company-name.com. Chances are, this name is already available, and if this is the case, just go to a domain registrar and register your domain.

2. If you want a website on, say: “How to catch a wild boar with your bare hands”, you need to go to the Google Keyword External Tool here. BUT WAIT! Before you do that, please bookmark this page, so you can come back to it to continue the process – after you finish with the Keywords Tool.

IMPORTANT TIP: If you check the ‘exact matches’ box, then you will get an idea of the search volume for the number of people who are searching for those exact keywords monthly. Let’s say, you find that about 5000 people are searching for those exact matches monthly. Well, even though globally that doesn’t sound like much, yet, that’s about 5000 new prospective customers you can showcase your products to every month who are actually looking for those exact keywords. That’s going to generate at least a traffic of 5000 people to your site – which means over 160 people a day! That’s not bad volume by any means.

If you want to learn more about how to do this very successfully, we highly recommend Micro Niche Finder. It’s a fantastic product and you can use it over and over to generate cash from your websites, by similarly targeting niche and keyword-based domains like this.

Coming back to your domain search, if you followed the steps above, great! Then follow these instructions and ask yourself:

1. How many people are looking for a how-to manual on this subject on a regular basis?

2. What are some of the best keywords for this search?

3. Choose a keyword that has enough search volumes in a month.
Going with our ‘wild boar’ analogy, you can decide the keywords that have, around 50,000 searches. You are not looking for wild boars in just any context. You also don’t want anything too general. You need a niche audience for your website. You need people who are looking for the info you have. For example, people who you are targeting are actually looking to catch a wild boar. So you won’t target keywords like, say “mating rituals of wild boars”. That won’t help you, unless you are a female wild boar, of course. So make sure it’s in context.

4. Once you have decided on the keywords, and the keyword tool will give you lots of variations within those words. You can select the ones you want, and then save them all as a .csv file.

5. Now take the top keywords in this list – which are likely to generate the most searches, and then go to either:

GoDaddy.com or 1and1.com.

Both are great domain registrars, so you can choose either service.

Then register a domain based on those keywords. Chances are, they are not available. But don’t despair! Get a name based on those keywords. If your keywords were, “catch a wild boar”, you can get variations like: catchawildboartips.com, catchawildboarfast.com, catchawildboarnow.com, catchyourfirstwildboar.com, mywildboarcatchingtips.com, etc. The basic idea is to get those keywords, or your main subject in the domain name. Getting the drift? This is half the battle won. This will also give you good search engine rankings.

6. When you are registering your domain, you need to keep in mind that it’s better to go ahead and register for at least 2-3 years. When the search engines see this, then they feel reassured that you are in for the ‘long haul’ and if you really mean business (no pun intended here). A lot of spam sites spring up here and there and then shut down.

Next, you need a company that allows you to host your site.
